“Miracle dad” are the words used by the media to describe Ken Kunken.
When Ken and Anna first talked about getting married, Anna told Ken that she would like to have his baby. Not just “a baby”, “Ken’s baby”. She said: “It would be great to see a little Kunken running around.” This seemed impossible. Ken had been paralyzed for more than 30 years, and was already in his 50s.
There is a saying in the military: “The difficult we do at once, the impossible takes a little longer.” Ken and Anna were determined to make the impossible happen, and they wanted to do it sooner rather than later.
They looked into various options, including in-vitro fertilization, and were thrilled to learn that even someone in Ken’s condition could still father a child. Soon, Anna’s dream of having Ken’s baby, not only became Ken’s dream, it became their quest.
It was a difficult and bumpy road, but Ken and Anna were absolutely convinced that together they were going to make this work. Their optimism paid off.
On January 24, 2005 Ken was present in the delivery room, when Anna gave birth … to triplets.
They have three beautiful boys: Joey, Jimmy and Timmy.
